Why hire Anthony?

Anthony KOZAK is a senior Unity developer and game engineer with 16+ years of professional production experience. Before going independent, he spent five years at Ubisoft — working on Eagle Flight (one of the first AAA VR titles for PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift) and Rabbids Coding (winner of the Games for Change Award 2020 for Best Learning Game). That AAA discipline — shipping polished, performance-sensitive software on a schedule — is the baseline for every client engagement today.

As a freelancer, he has shipped 50+ projects for clients including Meta, L'Oreal, TBWA, and Ankama. He also maintains 16+ commercial Unity plugins on the Asset Store used by thousands of developers worldwide — a publishing record that demonstrates both sustained software quality and product thinking at scale.

The practical outcome for clients is a developer who can own a problem end-to-end: architecture decisions, implementation, platform submission, post-launch iteration — without needing a second senior engineer to review every call.

What I build

Games & Interactive Apps

Unity 6 games for mobile, PC, console, and web. From prototype to launch-ready build: gameplay systems, physics, AI, UI, performance tuning, and platform submission.

VR & XR Experiences

Immersive experiences for Meta Quest 2/3/Pro and OpenXR platforms. Hand tracking, spatial UI, locomotion, multiplayer, and performance optimization for standalone hardware.

Unity Tools & Plugins

Custom Unity editor extensions, runtime libraries, and Asset Store-quality plugins. Camera systems, level editors, UI frameworks, tutorial engines, and workflow automation tools.

Web Applications

Full-stack React + Laravel or Node.js web apps. REST APIs, real-time features, database design, and cloud deployment. Well-suited for game companion apps, dashboards, and content platforms.

Code Review & Technical Audit

Senior-level review of existing Unity or web codebases. Architecture assessment, performance profiling, security audit, and a written report with prioritized recommendations.

Game Dev Training

One-on-one or small-group mentoring in Unity development and C#. Curriculum design for studio onboarding, bootcamps, or university programmes. Delivered remotely via video call.

How it works

1

Discovery Call — 30 minutes, free

We discuss your project, goals, constraints, and timeline. I ask the questions needed to scope accurately — tech stack, platforms, team size, key risks. You get a clear sense of whether I am the right fit. No obligation on either side.

2

Proposal — within 48 hours

A written proposal covering scope, deliverables, milestones, and timeline. Fixed-price projects include a milestone breakdown so you know exactly what is delivered at each stage and when. Time-and-materials projects include an estimated range and invoicing schedule.

3

Build — with weekly check-ins

Work begins on the agreed scope. You receive weekly progress updates with early builds or draft deliverables, and direct access via email or a shared Slack channel throughout. No black-box development periods — if scope changes, we discuss it before it affects the timeline.

4

Handover & post-launch support

Final delivery with handover documentation and source code. Fixed-price projects include a post-delivery support period for bug fixes and questions. Ongoing retainer clients continue with reserved monthly hours.

Engagement models

Every project is different. Three structures cover most scenarios — terms are discussed and agreed privately after the discovery call.

Fixed-Scope Project

Defined scope, agreed deliverables, fixed total. Best for greenfield builds, audits, or tool development where requirements are clear upfront. You know the cost before work begins.

Time & Materials

A day rate applied to actual hours, invoiced weekly or bi-weekly. Best for longer engagements or projects where scope evolves as requirements become clearer. Maximum flexibility.

Discuss this model

Monthly Retainer

Reserved capacity each month for ongoing maintenance, mentoring, or consulting. Best for live game support, ongoing code review cadences, or teams needing regular senior access.

Frequently asked questions

Are you currently available for hire?
Yes — I am currently accepting new project inquiries. Exact availability depends on project scope and start date. Describe your project through the contact form and I will come back to you, usually within 24 hours, with whether and when I can start.
What types of projects do you take on?
Game development (Unity 6, mobile, PC, console, Switch), VR/XR experiences (Meta Quest, OpenXR, PSVR), Unity plugin and tool development, full-stack web applications (React, Laravel, Node.js), code reviews and technical audits, and game development training. If your project has elements of more than one category, that is fine — most projects do.
Do you work remotely, and what time zones do you cover?
Yes — all engagements are remote by default. I am based between the United States (Eastern Time, UTC-4/-5) and France (CET/CEST, UTC+1/+2), which gives natural overlap with North American and Western European working hours. Async communication covers the rest.
How does the hiring process start?
The first step is a free 30-minute discovery call via the contact page. I will ask about your project scope, technology stack, timeline, and budget expectations so I can put together an accurate proposal. You receive a written proposal within 48 hours after the call.
What platforms and technologies do you specialize in?
Unity 6 and C# are the primary specialization — for games, tools, VR/XR, and interactive applications. Platform experience covers PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), mobile (iOS, Android), console (Nintendo Switch, PSVR), and VR/XR (Meta Quest 2, 3, Pro, OpenXR). Web stack: React, TypeScript, Laravel, PHP, Node.js, PostgreSQL.
Can you join an existing team as an embedded contractor?
Yes. Embedded engagements — where I work within your existing team, attend standups, and use your tools and repositories — work well on a time-and-materials or monthly retainer basis. I have done this for studios that needed a senior specialist for a specific platform, technology area, or phase of development without making a permanent hire.
