Layered Scene Screenshot

Unity Asset • Version 1.0 • Updated April 2nd 2015

Layered Scene Screenshot solves a specific marketing-asset problem: getting a game screenshot where individual objects are already separated into their own transparent-background image, instead of exporting one flat screenshot and manually cutting objects out afterward.

It works by rendering separate passes per camera layer and compositing each as its own alpha-cut image. That's useful for store page graphics, promotional composites, or UI mockups that need a character or prop isolated from its background.

A typical workflow: capture a hero character on one layer and the environment on another, then composite them in an image editor with full control over shadows, glow, or background swaps that a single flat screenshot wouldn't allow.

What's included

  • Per-camera-layer screenshot capture with alpha channel
  • Demo scene and setup instructions (Read Me included)

Common questions

What do I need already set up in my scene? Layer assignment on the objects you want isolated. The tool captures per camera layer, so how you've organized layers determines what ends up in each exported image.

What format are the exported images? Each captured layer is exported as its own image with an alpha channel, so objects arrive pre-cut from their background and ready to composite.
